For those of you who don’t already know: my personal news is that I was just accepted by Plymouth University for a PhD programme in the School of Performing Arts to research the directing of solo autobiographical theatre. My first tutorial is tomorrow.
Winter School with Peta Lily
So, the winter school is rapidly approaching and there are five places left on this weekend – I’m thinking that maybe I haven’t told you quite what an extraordinary opportunity this is. Actually I’m not sure I really got it myself.
Last week quite by chance I happened to give a lift in the car to two friends. It turned out that one, Ben, was a student of Peta’s when she was head of mime at Guildford School of Acting.
He told me that Peta is without doubt one of the most extraordinary teachers he has known in his career in the arts.
Peta is well known for her one-woman shows, for physical theatre productions and for teaching theatre skills. The Dark Clown is her own methodology which she has been developing over many years. She is considered one of the ground-breaking performers involved in shaping physical theatre during the 1980s. Now she’s a teacher at RADA.
Last year’s workshop was an extraordinary personal and skill building experience for all of us who were there—fast, fun, challenging, creative, stimulating and extraordinarily satisfying. We all created ten minute pieces to perform on the last afternoon, which were way out of the zone we normally operated in.
If anyone has been thinking about coming, please come and join us. I can promise you a wonderful weekend, at the giveaway tuition price of £175.00 for the three days.
